Provision of Replacement Firewall Solution for De Montfort University
This is a large award for Radio, TV & Communications Equipment — above three-quarters of comparable contracts. Based on 6,686 valued Radio, TV & Communications Equipment tenders in our corpus.
Tender for the provision of a Replacement Firewall Solution for De Montfort University as per our Invitation to tender incorporating our Specification, DMU reference 2002/24.
DMU has been a Check Point customer for circa 25 years.
During this period, we have used Check Point firewalls to successfully enhance our cyber security posture and enhance protection against external and internal threats.
Our existing Check Point firewall was procured in 2018, with the current support & maintenance contract due to lapse mid-December 2024.
DMU is also deploying a new campus network to support the growth of secure, digital services to our staff, students and visitors.
This network's design has helped inform the requirements for a new next-generation firewall to be procured.
DMU conducted some pre-market analysis at a 'technology' level in order to assess alternative firewall technologies available in our budgetary envelope.
This included technical testing, a review of resource & existing capabilities and collaboration with Gartner specialist consultants.
The decision has been made to continue to use Check Point firewall technology to protect DMU systems and leverage more of the technical capabilities and next generation Solution can deliver.
DMU now wish to undertake a further competition at a supplier reseller level for the supply of this selected firewall technology.
This decision has factored in the skillsets within the current technical support team, matters relating to business continuity, the existing contract expiration date and the budget available, both current & future.
Full details of the University's Statement of Requirements (SoR) and other associated documents making up the complete DMU Specification can be found at https://in-tendhost.co.uk/demontfort/aspx/Home, DMU reference 2002/24.
