The brief

The current contract for Custody Detention Officer Services let by the Police and Crime Commissioner for Warwickshire (the Authority) is due to expire on 31st January 2024.

The Authority is seeking to engage with suppliers regarding the future Provision of Custody Detention Officers (CDOs).

The service is for the third party recruitment, provision and management of CDOs to operate within the Warwickshire Police managed custody suites.

The Authority is strictly governed by legislation in particular the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 and it's Codes of Practice.

This places a specific legal responsibility on the CDO who is responsible for ensuring the legal process is discharged and has a strict duty of care to all detainees.

CDOs must be fully aware of their role and how it integrates with the police officers and staff they work with.

The Authority is currently reviewing it's service in regards to CDOs in terms of how the service will be delivered going forward and to gauge levels of interest in any future tender process therefore the Authority is planning on holding a market engagement event and seeking expressions of interest.
