The brief

Prior Information Notice COVID 19 - Establishment of a select list for the bulk supply of Lateral Flow Device "LFD" devices to the Isle of Man The Department of Health and Social Care seeks to create a select list of providers for the bulk supply to the Isle of Man of Lateral Flow Devices capable of detecting the CoV-SARS-2 antigen.

Context The Isle of Man Governments response to COVID 19 has necessitated the development of strategies and mechanisms to control the outbreak, mitigate the effects of the outbreak and prevent further cases emerging.

In the summer of 2021, the testing regime on the Island evolved through the wider availability and use of Lateral Flow Devices.

Previously only those identified as close contacts of positive cases were eligible to collect packs of LFD's.

However, the success of the Islands mass vaccination programme and the need to establish a new way of living with the virus led to a policy change encouraging much wider engagement with home testing.

In terms of scale, at Mid-July 2021, the Island had received a delivery of more than 185,000 home testing kits which included a bulk drop order of over 100,000.

As at 3 December 2021, the number received on Island exceeds c.1,186,100 with typical order quantities of 130,000 per order.

However, from 31 March 2022, the Isle of Man will implement its new strategy of living with covid-19 with an endemic approach.

Further information on this approach, which includes the role of LFDs, is avai...ware that the Department, nor any other part of Isle of Man Government or any other organisation assisting the Government with the procurement process, will accept any liability nor any charges for expenses or losses incurred by any interested party as a result of responding to this enquiry.
