The brief

In line with Education Strategy (2018-2022), Warwickshire County Council are seeking tenders from suitably experienced and qualified organisations with the intention of creating a multi provider framework to support the provision of Alternative Education for children of statutory school age.

Whilst it will seek to meet the needs of all children and young people requiring Alternative Education support there will be an emphasis on students being provided with the opportunity to achieve academic accreditation, particularly in English and maths.

The number of permanent exclusions from Warwickshire schools has continued to rise; in 2015- 16 there were 64, in 2016-17 there were 76 and 2017-18 104 permanent exclusions (from 76 to 104 ).

The age of the children excluded ranges from 4 to 16.

In the past, 14 - 16 year olds tended to be the most prevalent group, 2013-14 saw a worrying number of younger children (of primary age) being permanently excluded.

The male / female split varies year on year, but males are always in the majority.
