16-123: The Kennelling of Stray Dogs and Animal Boarding Services
All suppliers must hold a valid Animal Boarding Establishment licence and must adhere to the standards within the licence.
Suppliers may bid for Lot 1 only, Lot 2 only, or both Lot 1 and Lot 2.
Bidders and other recipients of this ITT are reminded that the issue of this ITT in no way commits RMBC to award any contract pursuant to the tender process and that neither RMBC, nor any of their advisers, shall be liable for any expenses incurred by Bidders or such recipients in connection with the tender process.
The details set out in this ITT are given in good faith and believed to be correct.
However, RMBC does not warrant the accuracy of those details and each Tenderer should make its own appropriate enquiries.
Lot 1 - Kennelling of Stray Dogs The scope of the service provision is to provide a kennelling service for stray dogs both in working hours and out of hours in accordance with the Council's duty under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
The kennelling service will encompass receiving stray dogs both from the Council's wardens and members of the public and ensure that they are boarded for 7 calendar days or until they are reclaimed by their owners, dogs shall be received by the kennels on any day (including Saturday and Sunday) between 8:00am and 9:00pm.
Following the expiry of 7 calendar days the kennels will be responsible for the dog.
The estimated value of this contract is £21,000 per annum.
This figure is based upon the number of dogs kennelled by the Council in 2017 and may fluctuate year on year.
This does not carry any guarantee of turnover and any estimated volumes of business are indicative and may vary upwards or downwards depending on actual future needs.
Lot 2 - Animal's Boarded under the Care Act 2014 The Council is under a statutory duty under the Care Act 2014 to protect the property of adults being cared for away from home, which includes their pets.
The Council is looking for a contractor(s) to be responsible for a boarding service for dogs, cats and small animals.
This service will also include collection and delivery of the animals within the Borough of Rotherham and will also be inclusive of evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
The estimated value of Lot 2 is £18,000 per annum.
This figure is based upon the number of animals boarded by the Council in 2017 and may fluctuate year on year.
