The brief

The Development, Relationship and Alumni Office (DARO) conducts fundraising and engagement across the University of Birmingham's alumni, friends and supporter audiences.

Contact data is an institutional asset which requires precise management, stewardship and protection.

Over 350,000 individuals and 100,000 organisations hold their contact data with the University due to their interest in the organisation, and this number is predicted to grow in line with increases in student numbers, the growing public engagement agenda, and DARO's focus on expanding its audiences to deliver its forthcoming campaign.

Other stakeholders within the advancement CRM system include the Business Engagement team -who work closely with industrial partners to establish research projects and grow research income from business for University projects, Winterbourne House & Gardens, and the Barber Fine Art Institute who both run supporter membership programs.

A CRM system is required for the following purposes: • Secure management of personal data in line with GDPR requirements • Multi-channel marketing campaigns to drive engagement and fundraising activity • Touch-point tracking for engagement activities across all audiences • Pipeline and performance management of high-level relationships • Financial record tracking and account management of philanthropic income • Volunteering screening, management and tracking of completed activity • Reporting on financial and engagement performance
