The brief

The University is inviting tenders on the terms set out in this ITT for the supply, delivery and installation of an ultra-high vacuum variable temperature combined scanning tunnelling microscope and atomic force microscope system (UHV VT-STM/AFM).

Key features of the system will be the ability to collect images with atomic and sub-molecular resolution on conducting and insulating materials across variable temperatures for molecular electronics studies.

The system will be installed in the Lancaster ultra-low noise IsoLab facility, and is anticipated to support research on surface science, molecular electronics, thermoelectric materials, and surface chemistry.

The location of the site is Bailrigg Campus, Lancaster, LA1 4YW.

There could be a requirement for further purchases, dependent on future funding.

Lancaster University reserves the right not to award a contract following this tender, nor does it bind itself to accept the lowest price or any quotation.
