The brief

Acivico (Building Consultancy) Ltd on behalf of Birmingham City Council invites organisations to be considered to receive tender documentation for the demolition and associated works including site clearance of various garages and/or similar like structures in the Birmingham area.

When Council owned garages or similar like are identified for demolition and site clearance to make way for future development projects.

This work is to consist of a safe demolition and site clearance including safe removal of asbestos materials both non notifiable and notifiable, prior to the building being demolished.

These sites must be well secured by use of appropriate fencing at the end of contact and any appropriate accommodation works during and at end of contract.

Acivico (Building Consultancy) Ltd on behalf of Birmingham City Council is seeking to tender this service to establish a contractual arrangement with appointed contractor who will resource accordingly and to perform these works as and when they occur.

The contractors must be competent to carry out works to a predetermined standard within set time limits.

The contractor must provide a suitably trained workforce and must have experience/knowledge of works required to be undertaken.

The contractor will be responsible for providing their own power, water and welfare to undertake this work.

Contractors wishing to tender for this contract must have 3 years of audited accounts showing turnover of at least 2 times the estimated contract value.

To satisfy this requirement the contractor must submit 2 years audited accounts.

A Public/Product Liability Insurance of £5 million, Employers Liability Insurance of £5 Million and Professional Indemnity Insurance of £5 Million must be provided.

The contractor must hold or employ persons with valid HSE asbestos license to be able to remove notifiable asbestos where discovered.

The contract will be let using the form of agreement and conditions of contract which shall be the Standard Form of Measured Term Contract 2016, issued by the Joint Contracts Tribunal with Birmingham City Council's amendments.

The call off contract works is programmed to commence 1st November 2022 and be completed as a 52-week contract ending on 31st October 2023.

The Council cannot guarantee the amount of work, if any at all, which will be placed with successful contractors.

The successful contractor will need to demonstrate his ability to provide the service required, confirmation of conforming to current appropriate demolition, asbestos legislation, including other relevant health and safety, equalities and financial stability.

The estimated value of the works for 12 months is in the region of £150,000.00 The tender process and all associated communication will be managed through Birmingham City Council's e-tendering system 'intend'.
