2010/388/CW/DPG/18 General Purpose CNC Lathe The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for a general purpose CNC Lathe on behalf of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, Design and Prototyping Group at Catcliffe, South Yorkshire.
Scope of Requirement A general purpose, medium sized, CNC lathe for use in the rapid prototyping of cylindrical and cylindrically derived components.
This machine is for the manufacture of complex pre-production prototypes within the design & prototyping group.
The lathe should be capable of adequately handling typical parts from 20 mm to 50 mm diameter in materials including Aluminium, Steel and Titanium.
The technical requirements of the machine are of paramount importance in this tender and will be ranked higher than the overall cost.
