The purpose of the service is to identify and support adult carers (18+) supporting another adult, young carers approaching adulthood, supporting adults and parent carers when the person that they care for is approaching adulthood.

Please bear in mind that the term ‘carer’ is not universally recognised across all cultures and caring situations.

There are 5 key aspects to the service,Identification of carers and promotion of their rights, provision of information, advice and guidance,empowering carers to have their views and feelings taken into account, activities and events for carers,working in partnership to enable carers to access the support they need.

The aims of the service are to support carers in their caring role, help carers to have improved health and wellbeing outcomes, prevent carers needs from increasing and assist the Council to fulfill its statutory duties in respect of carers under the Care Act 2014 and Children and Families Act 2014.
