Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service
Private Healthcare Subscription Contract and Related Services
This sits in the upper-middle of the Health & Social Care band — a substantial contract for the sector. Based on 32,734 valued Health & Social Care tenders in our corpus.
The Authority is seeking to appoint a single Provider able to put in place and manage a Private Health Care Subscription Contract commencing 1st March 2025.
The service provider will be able offer a wide range of discretionary private healthcare to the employees of the Authority which may include the following health services: • Diagnostic services such as private consultations, scans and tests where an active NHS referral is in place and wait times will result in a delay for the employee being able to return to their normal duties resulting in sickness absence. • Access to a private GP service that should include private prescriptions preferably 24/7 that can be accessed by the employee for advice for their own and their family member's medical needs. • Tailored physiotherapy - arranged by the employee making a request to the Service Provider, without a GP referral. • Mental health support including access to counselling services. • Treatment and Surgery - when an active NHS referral is in place and wait times will result in a delay for the employee being able to return to their normal duties resulting in sickness absence The Authority utilised a below threshold Light Touch Regime (LTR) option to release the tender package on the In-Tend portal on 15th November 2024.
As the Authority did not receive any compliant bid, Following the principle of Section 32 of Public Contract Regulation 2015, use of the negotiated procedure without prior publication to negotiate to award the contract, the Authority approached our incumbent supplier Benenden Healthcare Society Ltd to negotiate a new contract to ensure that the service can be provided to employees and a continuity of service be maintained.
