SOL - Woodland Infrastructure Enhancement (Alcott Wood & Chelmsley Wood) ERDF
This sits in the lower-middle of the Construction band — a mid-scale opportunity. Based on 64,002 valued Construction tenders in our corpus.
Since 2017 Solihull Council has been successful with European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) applications to undertake a wide range of habitat and nature improvement projects.
This funding has delivered improved conservation status for habitat across publicly accessible green space within the urban areas of Solihull Borough.
This contract is for works in 2 existing woodlands (Alcott Wood and Chelmsley Wood) comprising improvements to footpath surfacing and associated alterations to parkland furniture.
Funded by North Solihull Partnership, the project was included in a successful application for match funding from European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) grant via the Small Habitats Grant Programme in 2021 towards a suite of Solihull habitat improvement works (named 'Frogs & Logs'), contributing to the added value of directing the grant towards the other projects.
The works were programmed to take place in 2021/22 in public open spaces across the borough.
The aggregate overall split for the Small Habitats Grant Programme 'Frogs & Logs' is formed by 60% Solihull funds and 40% match funding from ERDF (Greening the Grey) via the Small Habitats Grant Programme.
These works contribute to the delivery of both the GBSLEP ESIF strategy and the GBSLEP's Strategic Economic Plan, providing support to local and regional partnership priorities to promote managed growth, health and well-being and the development of sustainable communities.
The project will deliver aspects of the Natural Capital and Adaptation Roadmap within the Solihull Climate Change Prospectus to deliver a sustainable, low carbon Solihull.
