CLIMATE CHANGE STRATEGY FOR NORTH NORTHAMPTONSHIRE
This sits below the typical range for Research & Development contracts — a smaller, more accessible award. Based on 20,405 valued Research & Development tenders in our corpus.
North Northamptonshire Council invites quotations for the provision of a comprehensive Climate Change Strategy for North Northamptonshire.
The Council adopted a Corporate Plan in 2021, with a vision for North Northamptonshire as 'a place where everyone has the best opportunities and quality of life'.
In 2021, the Council also declared a Climate Emergency and commissioned work on the North Northants to Net Zero (NN2NZ) project.
In 2022, it set a target to be Carbon Neutral by 2030 and agreed its first Carbon Management Plan.
In response to the evolving landscape of climate action, including recommendations from NN2NZ and other net-zero policy advancements, we propose a re-imagined strategy that positions North Northamptonshire as a leading example of sustainable, thriving, and forward-thinking communities and an attractive place to live, work, and visit.
The purpose of the commission is to create a climate change strategy to advance the net-zero goals and ambitions of North Northamptonshire and support the journey to be Carbon Neutral by 2030.
The strategy will be completed by 30 August 2024.
It will be developed through engagement and consultation with key stakeholders.
The strategy will replace the existing Northamptonshire Climate Change Strategy 2020 - 2023 for the North Northamptonshire area, and will encompass climate change impacts and adaptation plans for a wide range of areas, including flooding, health and wellbeing risks, water supply, built environment, natural capital, freshwater ecosystems, soils, biodiversity, agriculture, forestry, domestic and international food production and trade, emerging pests and diseases, and greenhouse gas emissions reduction with a primary focus on mitigation and adaptation measures.
It will integrate insights from the North Northamptonshire to Net Zero (NN2NZ) project and extend to include mitigation and adaptation strategies for transport, energy provision, the green economy, resources and waste, along with recommendations for achieving a Carbon Neutral Council.
