Drawing on the expertise of our fellowship, the Society provides expert, independent advice to policy-makers and the general public, championing the contributions that science can make to economic prosperity, quality of life and environmental sustainability.
Recent policy studies have covered topics such as ocean resources, machine learning, school-business collaboration and synthetic biology.
Arising from the President of the Royal Society's concerns about the fitness of UK education for future science, the economy and wider society, the Royal Society's vision for science mathematics and computing education sets out to explore how school education systems in the UK should evolve to meet the demands of the mid-21st century.
To support this agenda, the Society has established the Envision project.
The Society seeks to engage an experienced interviewer and writer/editor to produce short, thought-provoking publications which will encourage discussion surrounding the future of education by applying the Society's Broad and Balanced approach to a wide range of themes.
These Envision publications will be based on interviews the successful Tenderer shall conduct with nominated high-profile stakeholders.
The successful tenderer shall deliver the following outputs: Part 1: Conduct interviews and draft think pieces with high profile stakeholders - book and conduct interviews with key stakeholders between April and the end of December 2020.
Draft publications to complement the interview pieces 1,000-word think pieces per publication, written in the first person based on the interviews.
Draft for each publication, a 1000-word supplementary evidence document.
