Transportation of bodies on behalf of Her Majesty's Coroner for Cornwall
This is a contract result notice, not an open opportunity. Details from the official award data.
In certain cases, when there is a sudden death other than by natural causes, it is the responsibility of the Coroner to examine the cause of death.
This may result in a post mortem examination being carried out.
It is also the Coroner's responsibility to remove bodies from the scene of death to the mortuary, pending investigation into the death.
This procurement is to renew a Framework Agreement for contractors to provide a service to transport deceased persons between the place of death to the Coroner's chosen destination.
The majority of bodies are currently transported to the Pathology Directorate at Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.
In some cases bodies may need to be transported to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth and Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital and on occasions taken to other locations including long distance transfers within the UK.
The anticipated commencement date for the new framework is 1 April 2017.
The new Framework arrangement will comprise delivery of the above Services in 8 tender lots as set out below: Lot 1: Council's Community Network Areas 1* and 2.
Lot 2: Council's Community Network Areas 3 and 4.

Matched against the notice text, so this is a floor — the tender pack will demand things the notice never mentions. “Says must” means the quoted sentence itself used obligation language; anything ambiguous is left as a mention.
