The brief

Provision of marine pilotage services for British Forces Falklands.

Essentials: Provide an on-call Marine Pilotage service within 6 hours notice to deploy from MHNP and available 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.

The required service is within the port limits of MHNP, but may also include the roads or anchorage areas within Choiseul Sound; b.

Provide sufficient trained Pilots to ensure resilience to the contracted service in the event of injury, leave, sickness, or other unforeseen event.

The Authority envisages this as being a minimum of three, of which one may be undergoing supervised training; c.

Provide a Marine Superintendency service; that is the supervision and oversight on behalf of the Authority of the safe discharge, loading, slinging, securing and transfer of cargo from or to the Falkland Islands Replenishment Ship (FIRS) RoRo, or any other vessel requiring the transfer of cargo at the request of the Authority.

This service will also include an independent assurance that good craneage and fork lifting practices are observed in line with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental Protection legislation.
