ROYAL SOCIETY FOR THE PROTECTION OF BIRDS
Downs to the Sea - Wet and Wadery
The wetland at RSPB Pulborough Brooks has potential to be a haven for breeding waders and wildfowl.
However, there is little control over water on the site.
This means that during flood events in winter, water cannot leave site quickly enough.
However, when the water levels do drop, they fall too far, and water becomes scarce.
By installing 4 new hydrological structures, water control can be regained across the site to create ideal habitat for the flora and fauna found on the SSSI.
Access around site is also very difficult which hinders management.
Upgrading tracks so they are solid will make management possible in areas that are sometimes inaccessible.
