The brief

e-ITT for the provision of NM11 - Ballard Lake - Access and Open Space Enhancements Works Closing Date for Submission of Tenders 12.00 NOON, 20.12.2024 to be returned electronically via the Council's e-tendering solution "Pro-Contract" hosted on the South East Business Portal (SEBP) Scope Overview: New Forest District Council (NFDC) wish to engage a Contractor to undertake landscaping and associated external works at Ballard Lake, New Milton.

The site is designated Public Open Space and will be developed for informal recreation in accordance with New Forest District Council Mitigation Strategy: Mitigation for Recreational Impacts SPD 2021 and Infrastructure Delivery Plan.

The project will enhance the existing 'park' area of Ballard Lake and connect this space to the wider walking routes that have previously been improved as Green Way projects, linking Walkford, to the west, with New Milton town centre.

Ballard Lake Park is a highly valued green open space and is used daily by a wide range of local visitors, and the site is an important green element in the wider landscape and can be considered a 'gateway' feature that reflects the town's forest-edge location.

This project will enhance accessibility and safety, define a robust boundary to the SINC woodland, whilst maintaining its unique and historic character.

Ballard Lake Park is part of a wider site that is managed for its ecological value, this project will ensure that the new planting supports native species and extends habitats.

Management and maintenance of the site post-construction will be carried out by New Milton Town Council (NMTC).
