The brief

The School of Biological and Biomedical Sciences (SBBS) at Durham University is procuring a mass spectrometer with associated liquid chromatography system for quantitative proteomic applications.

The new spectrometer will be the primary analytical instrument for qualitative and quantitative analysis of protein samples from a diverse range of biological organisms and experimental protocols.

The liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) equipment purchased on this tender must have the capability to do the following: carry out sensitive detection and quantitation of peptides derived from proteins by enzymatic digestion; detect and quantify protein post-translational modifications such as those described in section 6.2 of the tender document; determine the mass of intact proteins.

The equipment must comprise of: a state-of-the-art high resolution/accurate mass tandem mass spectrometer, integrated nano-flow liquid chromatography (LC) system, any ancillary equipment required for their operation and computer hardware/software for instrument control and data-processing.
