Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council
Night Life Marshalls Service
This sits below the typical range for Government & Public Administration contracts — a smaller, more accessible award. Based on 5,438 valued Government & Public Administration tenders in our corpus.
An evening nightlife marshal service will patrol and manage specific areas within Barnsley town centre to ensure public safety.
The marshals are required to identify potential hotspots, diffuse situations before they escalate, offer basic first aid and provide care to vulnerable patrons supported by a street pastor service and South Yorkshire Police (SYP).
Predominantly, the nightlife marshal service will assist those in need, in distress or in a vulnerable position (be it from having consumed excessive amounts of alcohol), those unable to get home or administering basic first aid due to different circumstances.
Two nightlife marshals are required to patrol a designated area of Barnsley town centre between the hours of 20.00hrs - 06.00hrs.
Patrols will cover every Saturday evening, every Sunday prior to a Bank Holiday Monday and additional cover for Easter, Christmas and New Year, in addition to any other ad hoc/ special event that may take place in the town centre.
Four marshals will provide a focused service concentrating their attention on hackney carriage ranks located in the town centre.
In addition to the above provision, these marshals will also manage the queues of people that form at the end of an evening requiring transport home.
Marshals are required to manage the queues and keep them in order, such as preventing people from pushing in, resolve any arguments or disputes that may occur, deal with anyone acting inappropriately and provide a presence that makes the general public feel safe whilst waiting for a taxi.
