CONTRACT NOT AWARDED NHS Wakefield CCG are seeking to commission additional providers to apply for this any qualified provider (AQP) tender process, subject to demonstrating compliance and competency against the specified criteria outlined in the specification, the successful provider(s) will deliver an Enhanced Optical Service to patients registered with a NHS Wakefield CCG GP Practice.
Provider(s) will be expected to sign the standard NHS contract, accepting all terms and conditions.
The current contract for existing providers commenced on 1 April 2021.
Existing providers need not apply, this process is for new providers and any accreditation will be for the remaining term of the contract up to 31 March 2022 It should be noted that under the AQP model, there will be no guarantees of volume or payment in the contracts awarded.
The Provider(s) must ensure the services delivered are located within the boundaries of Wakefield District and accessible to patients registered with Wakefield GPs.
The overarching aims for this service are: - Improved access and choice to services for patients, closer to home / more convenience - Provide primary care ophthalmology services within the specified criteria - Manage Patients in primary care where appropriate - Refer patients to the most appropriate service inline with the Clinical Guidelines, Protocols and Pathways agreed for Wakefield District - Improvement in patient experience and in clinical outcomes for patients - Reduce unnecessary referrals into community and hospital eye services - Contribute to developing and improving the service year on year on the basis of evidence based returns including the annual report, data returns, external quality assessment reports, audits, and NHS recommended service development advice current at the time - Ensure equity of service across all commissioned providers
