The brief

** THIS NOTICE IS FOR MARKET ENGAGEMENT PURPOSES ONLY ** Kent County Council (KCC) has a statutory duty as a Waste Disposal Authority (WDA) for the processing/disposal of Kent's household waste, which include the disposal of wood waste deposited by members of the public at Kent's Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs).

The Kent County Council (KCC) wishes to engage with suppliers regarding capacity in the market to provide future Wood Waste Disposal Services.

KCC's existing contract for these services is due to expire on 14th November 2026.

The total tonnage of wood waste processed for the 24/25 financial period was in the region of 25,000 tonnes.

Minimum Requirements The supplier will be required to have in place: • A waste processing facility with appropriate permitting and planning permissions. • A facility which can manage the processing of all wood waste. • An appropriate method of weighing-in materials (preferably an electronic weighbridge) to provide the council with the appropriate management information (including weigh-loader transaction listings); and • robust service contingency plans to ensure continuity of services in the event of plant failure, etc.
