The brief

A Market Engagement questionnaire is available to view and complete on the Mercell YORtender site https://uk.eu-supply.com/login.asp?B=UK, reference number: 74466.

The Market Engagement will close on 07/06/2023 12 noon.

The Short Breaks Service is commissioned to provide a seven days per week / 365 days per year short breaks service for adults with learning disabilities at two 4-bed units.

The units the service will be delivered from are owned by Wakefield Council and located in Normanton and Thornes.

The aim of the Service is to provide a high quality guest house experience with a range of social and leisure opportunities in a person centred way.

Service users attend their regular day opportunities provision whilst on Short Breaks except where a service user does not regularly attend day opportunities then they remain in the Short Breaks service.

The Service provides transport for service users to and from their day activities where this is not provided by the Day Opportunities service.

The Service works within the Council's Short Breaks Allocations Policy.

Allocation of short breaks is carried out by the Short Breaks Panel.

The level of provision is allocated according to the needs of the individual and their carers following an assessment under the Care Act 2014 and a Carer's Assessment.

There are three bands against which the allocated service provision is determined: Band One - Up to 24 Nights a year (to include a maximum of 11 premium nights) Band Two - Up to 36 Nights a year (to include a maximum of 16 premium nights) Band Three - Up to 56 Nights a year (to include a maximum of 24 premium nights) Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are classed as premium nights as these nights have higher demand.
