The brief

Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust invites expressions of interest from contractors to provide services for ventilation system cleaning.

Services to be delivered will include the provision of survey, risk assessment, sampling and cleaning of ventilation systems.

Work shall generally be carried out to TR/19 Guide to Good Practice - Internal Cleanliness of Ventilation Systems, Building and Engineering Services Association, (second edition October 2013).

The contract is for two years, plus option to renew for a further two years then, again subject to satisfactory performance, for another further two years.

The intention is commence on 1 August 2015, with planned cleaning operations undertaken in the autumn/winter/spring periods of each year.

The Trust has approximately 100 AHUs, 46 of which serve critical systems on our main site.

Not all the units are cleaned in one year – the Trust having a rolling programme based on inspections, risk assessments and dialogue, regarding priorities.

All contractors must be familiar with, capable and competent to undertake the service required.

The contractor must be a member of the Building and Engineering Services Association.

The Trust uses the ventilation systems to ensure building and environmental ventilation standards are maintained, along with the prevention of infection.

Therefore it is essential that systems the subject of this contract are fit for purpose, cleaned correctly, with all documentation required kept effectively and efficiency.
