The brief

ORE Catapult is seeking to expand its testing facilities by operating a Six Degree of Freedom (6DOF) dynamic platform test rig (hexapod) that can be used to simulate motion and loading on structures, components and technologies resulting from hydrodynamic interactions in the offshore environment.

The hexapod will be capable of imparting controlled dynamic load testing for part and full scale floating structures, components, systems and technologies in a simulated marine environment.

This procurement exercise is focused on a hexapod system, which shall be the main component in a test rig which shall be able to simulate hydrodynamic motions and loads.

The hexapod itself may be further integrated into a larger reacting and support frame, in addition to having permanent or temporary support platforms mounted on it.

In addition, it shall be integrated with a range of modelling and simulation software's which shall require to integrate with the control system.

However, it is desirable for the hexapod to also be able to operate as the entire test rig where the nature of the testing programme allows this and the specification below has been developed in this context.
