BFI IMAX Curtain Wall Glazing Improvements - AWARD
This sits in the upper-middle of the Construction band — a substantial contract for the sector. Based on 64,002 valued Construction tenders in our corpus.
The BFI IMAX is continuing to encounter infrequent curtain wall glazing failures and so are unable to rule out future failures, either down to malicious or accidental damage or nickel sulphide inclusions.
Following an internal risk assessment process this has resulted in a decision to mitigate any risk of future failures.
We are looking to work with a company who can design and install a system which they can demonstrate will either contain/restrain any glass fragments from falling or arrest their fall and capture them before they reach the public walkway.
The proposal should encompass design and installation including acceptance of the Design responsibilities and the role of Principle Designer with regard to CDM regulations.
We believe there is also maintenance required on the curtain wall glazing system itself and a number of the perishable elements of the fixings will need to be replaced.
We are looking for a solution which allows the risk to be mitigated whilst not affecting the visibility of the advertising wrap which is located behind the curtain wall glazing and a very important source of income to support the BFI's charitable activities.
It also contributes to the overall look of the IMAX building structure.
Please note: As part of this tender there is a mandatory bidders open day/site visit which will take place on the afternoon on Wednesday 5th June 2019.
Further details of this are included in the documentation published alongside this tender.
