Aylesbury Vale District Council
Study to recommend the 'Right type of Parking, in the Right Location, at the Right Price in Aylesbury'
Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) are inviting expressions of interest from consultants capable and interested in carrying out a study and providing recommendations for a car and coach parking strategy for Aylesbury town centre (incorporating other measures, as appropriate, including cycle parking, motorcycle parking, electric vehicle chargepoints and car share bays in order to help encourage more sustainable travel options and efficient use of available parking).
It is envisaged that the findings of this study, together with other evidence, will assist the Council in drawing up a plan which will provide the "right type of parking in the right location, at the right price" in Aylesbury town.
Aylesbury Vale is a large, mainly rural, district with a high quality environment.
Aylesbury is the county town of Buckinghamshire and the largest town in the district.
Other main settlements are Buckingham, Winslow, Wendover and Haddenham.
The northern part of the district adjoins Milton Keynes; to the west lies Bicester, a short distance away.
The south of the district includes part of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and lies within Metropolitan Green Belt.
Adjoining districts to the south have significant environmental constraints due to AONB and Green Belt designations.
The primary objectives of this study are to consider the parking provision within Aylesbury Town and the surrounding area of influence and how AVDC can work with key stakeholders to deliver an integrated, innovative, sustainable and financially affordable parking strategy that meet the needs of our customers, our communities and our businesses (whilst also encouraging sustainable modes of travel).
Specifically the strategy will set out a framework for parking within Aylesbury for the short (5-10 years), medium (10-15 years) and, potentially, the longer term.
The delivery of the study will have linked dependencies and specific pieces of work will need to be delivered independently, in conjunction or consecutively.
It is anticipated that the project will be broadly split into 3 sections; some pieces of work will need to be delivered in parallel, but for clarity and to enable agile decision making throughout the project each section will inform the work in the next.
Please email your expression of interest to sdeyes@aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk by noon on 31st July 2017.
