Kennelling of Dogs
This sits below the typical range for Other Community & Personal Services contracts — a smaller, more accessible award. Based on 5,835 valued Other Community & Personal Services tenders in our corpus.
A contract for the kenneling of dogs to enable The Council to abide by its statutory duty under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 ('the Act') - to collect and detain stray dogs on public (and private with owners consent) land.
This duty is regardless of whether they are wearing a collar or disc, or have been microchipped.
Under the Act, any dog caught where the owner cannot be traced will see the dog taken to boarding kennels where it is to be held for a mandatory period of 7 days.
After this mandatory period, the dog legally becomes property of the kennels.
