The brief

Background: In response to the Government’s “Tackling Child Sexual Exploitation” report published in March 2015, the contractor will develop, administer, co-ordinate and deliver the Child Sexual Exploitation Response Unit (the Unit).

The Unit involves the creation of the Child Sexual Exploitation Response Unit to help local authorities when child sexual exploitation is a particular concern and in response to a high number of cases.

This will ensure that specialist professionals in social work, law enforcement, and health are available to be deployed when they are needed anywhere in the country, for example following inspection, high levels of whistleblowing or needs self-identified by an area.

The Unit will co-ordinate the delivery of bespoke support to local areas.

Aims: The Contractor shall use all reasonable endeavours to achieve the following aims: • help build capacity and capability in public services at a local level to tackle CSE; • provide targeted advice on CSE and develop a demand-led system of bespoke, short term support for local areas; and • recruit, train, support and deploy a multi-disciplinary team of professionals, on secondment, who are CSE experts across the professions (law enforcement, social work, legal advisors, youth workers, prosecutors) who will work for a set number of days a year, whilst continuing in their day jobs.
