The brief

NHS England - London Region is seeking to commission a dental nurse-led triage service, to provide an accessible and equitable pathway, primarily for London residents (and temporary residents) that require urgent dental care out of hours.

The service will operate via the NHS 111 service in London and ensure callers for urgent dental care are assessed, triaged, given advice and appropriately signposted or booked into an appointment slot.

The proposed hours of service will operate between 18:00 and 08:00hrs weekday evenings and 24-hours during weekends and Bank Holidays (as defined by the General Practice out of hours period).

The service will be delivered by trained and experienced Dental Care Professionals (DCPs) who will use established algorithms to clinically triage patients effectively.

The service provision is to start on 1 April 2016.

North London weekdays 18:00 – 22:00hrs and 08:00 – 20:00hrs weekends and Bank Holidays City of London, Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge, Waltham Forest, Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, Islington, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Ealing, Brent, Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea and Hammersmith & Fulham 2.

South London weekdays 18:00 – 22:00hrs and 08:00 – 20:00hrs weekends and Bank Holidays Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham, Bromley, Greenwich, Bexley, Croydon, Kingston, Merton, Sutton, Richmond and Wandsworth 3.

Overnight Service weekdays 22:00 – 08:00hrs and 20:00 – 08:00hrs weekends and Bank Holidays Covering all of the above Boroughs Bidders can bid for one or more Lots and should indicate their preference when completing the PQQ.

The anticipated overall value of the service is £1.4m per annum and the contract award will be for a term of 5 years with an option to extend by a further 2 years.

The contract will be the NHS Standard contract for the Provision of Services.
