The Ch-DT published a Voluntary Ex-Ante Transparency (VEAT) Notice on 19 Feb 20 for this requirement and the standstill period expired on 2 Mar 20 with no concerns raised by the market.
This contract was placed using the negotiated procedure without prior publication of a contract notice, pursuant to Article 28(1)(e) of Directive 2009/81/EC (Regulation 16(1)(a)(ii) of the UK Defence and Security Public Contract Regulations 2011) for technical reasons.
This is because Boeing is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Design Authority (DA) for the Chinook aircraft.
As such, it is the only company with the drawings, information, expertise and tools to provide the necessary technical support to ensure that the aircraft function safely and comply with legislative and Military Aviation Authority (MAA) requirements.
