Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) sought to procure Functional Skills provision on behalf of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS).
GMCA is an Employer-Provider delivering the Level 3 Operational Firefighter Standard to its Apprentices.
As part of this Standard, Apprentices are required to gain their Level 2 in English and Maths prior to completing their Apprenticeship if they don't already hold the equivalent certification.
The Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) offer additional funding for eligible Apprentices requiring English and Maths certification.
This funding will be used for both the training delivery and subsequent certification and therefore any organisation will be subject to the associated scrutiny of acting as a subcontractor for ESFA funded provision.
The initial contract period is 3 years from 1st December 2024 to 30th November 2027, with the option to extend for a further 12-month period up to 30th November 2028.
The contract value per year is up to £20,000 (the total for the initial contract period of 3 years is up to £60,000).
The extension period also has a value of up to £20,000, therefore the total for 3 years plus 1 year extension option is up to £80,000.
This opportunity was commissioned as a further competition/call off from the GMCA Education, Work and Skills Flexible Procurement System.
