SH06063 - COUNCIL HOUSING ELECTRICAL UPGRADE PROGRAMME PHASE 2
This is a contract result notice, not an open opportunity. Details from the official award data.
This is a large award for Construction — above three-quarters of comparable contracts. Based on 64,002 valued Construction tenders in our corpus.
The programme involves testing and upgrading electrical installations within Sheffield City Council's housing stock to ensure a modern standard.
The scheme incorporates a range of dwellings including housing, flats and bungalows.
The contractor will be requested to carry out a survey of the existing installations and an associated Electrical Condition Report which will then determine the rectification works required.
As a result, the Contractor will need to gain access to each property on 2 occasions; to survey the property and subsequently to complete the works.
However, it should be noted that any works deemed urgent due to Health and Safety concerns (category 1 or 2) will be carried out immediately.
It is therefore essential that a Contractor that is experienced in tenant liaison is secured, as this is crucial to the successful delivery of the project.
The scope of work will include, but not be limited to, the following Statutory or Regulatory Requirements: • Install Isolation Switch (where necessary) • Carry out an initial periodic condition test and report • Address Category 1, 2 and 3 issues identified by the periodic test • Ensure earth bonding is adequate (where necessary) • Install earth wiring to lighting circuits (where necessary) • Install Hard Wired Smoke alarms • Carry out a final periodic test (if further work carried out) to verify all electrics are operating correctly • Replace consumer units (where necessary only) to provide improved RCD protection and safety for residents • Install additional sockets and / or improve the spread of sockets - many properties have not had additional sockets installed for 50 years.
They therefore rely heavily on extension cables, which are a fire risk • Install Carbon Monoxide Detectors • Install external lighting to houses, bungalows & flats (where no communal lighting presently) - this will improve tenants' quality of life
