DMS Watson - 4th Floor Research Grid Refurbishment
This is a contract result notice, not an open opportunity. Details from the official award data.
This sits in the upper-middle of the Construction band — a substantial contract for the sector. Based on 64,002 valued Construction tenders in our corpus.
Bidders are being invited to tender on a traditional procurement (drawings and specifications), single-stage open tender, comprising the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) and the Invitation to Tender (ITT).
The contract will be awarded to the bidder with the highest score as set out in the award criteria in section 2.10.1 of this ITT.
The site is located at Malet Place, London, WC1E 7.
This building is part of the UCL Bloomsbury Campus and is currently used by the UCL Services Cataloguing/ New Books Team.
The floor space is currently set up as an office environment made up of two office/library spaces, a small meeting room and a small kitchen area.
The building is generally a solid brick construction with secondary glazed windows.
As this space is located on the 4th floor, it benefits from a high pitched ceiling.
The project involves redeveloping the space into a new ‘Graduate Hub’ for UCL postgraduates, providing private study space and meeting rooms.
The area shall be restricted to graduate use by means of a ‘Cardax’ control.
This new space shall include structural support works, introduction of a glazed partitions and a significant amount of fixed joinery units with integrated services including group working areas, individual study desks/pods, a small AV room and a separate ‘interview room’.
It is proposed to remove the kitchen and replace it with a small tea/coffee point in an alternative location.
The existing mechanical and electrical engineering services shall be largely retained but updated to suit the new layouts.
These works are fully described in the accompanying Burwell Deakins and Parsons Brinckerhoff specifications and drawings as detailed at Appendix A to the Preliminaries.
Contract commencement is expected on 20th July 2015 and Practical Completion is expected 25th September 2015.
Please refer to Section A20, Clause 34 in Volume 2 for the sectional completion dates if applicable.
