The brief

The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) Threat Mitigation Technologies (TMT) department acts as the technical authority for the MPS in regards to weapons and explosives detection.

This opportunity is to provide technical support maintenance of three Mobile (vehicle based) Explosives Trace Detection (ETD) systems based on Thermal Desorption - Mass Spectrometry.

These systems are currently used by specialist search trained police officers to aid the protective security search of iconic venues.

Day to day use of this ETD system will be undertaken by members of the Metropolitan Police Service's Specialist Operations - Counter Terrorism Protective Security Operations Command, who are responsible for the protection of UK Government personnel and buildings, as well as visiting foreign Heads of State within the UK.

You should be able to supply a maintenance service for one year which includes labour, travel and a 48 hour on site response time following a adhoc system fault.

Four quarterly service visits should also be undertaken at a pre-arranged dates and time to suit both the MPS and maintenance supplier.

All maintenance support and servicing visits should be documented by the visiting engineer so an audit trial of work undertaken is available to both the MPS and Supplier for future reference.

Your quote should be cover on an annual (one year period) and include labour, travel, quarter scheduled maintenance visits, as well as a 48 hour on site adhoc response time, for three systems. (Parts and additional labour charges can be extra following diagnosis of an extraordinary equipment fault outside of the standard quarterly maintenance visits).

All on site work would be undertaken at three specified locations within central London travel Zone 1.

This opportunity is to supply an annual maintenance serving support of three mobile Explosives Trace Detection systems to the MPS Threat Mitigation Technologies - Operational Science and Capability Development Team who are the technical authority for explosives detection systems in the MPS.
