Brief Description of Requirement Communities who host electricity network infrastructure play a vital role in supporting the delivery of cheaper, secure and low-carbon energy and it is only right that they can benefit from developments in their area.

If the rollout of electricity network infrastructure is to be successful it must be developed in a way that is truly sustainable - not only economically and environmentally, but also socially.

This contract is for the delivery of mixed methods research (survey and qualitative research) with host communities for proposed electricity transmission network infrastructure projects.

We require a supplier who can deliver high-impact, practical insights on the views and preferences of host communities, to feed into the development of community benefits policy, supporting wider energy security and net zero objectives.

This is also an excellent opportunity for suppliers to utilise innovative research methodologies.

Background The energy system is undergoing profound and fundamental changes.

As recent events have demonstrated, now more than ever, we must focus on securing home-grown energy supplies.

Moving away from dependency on the global energy market, we have committed to fully decarbonising the electricity supply by 2035, subject to security of supply considerations, including an ambition for up to 50GW of offshore wind by 2030.

As we increase the development of clean and renewable energy generation within the UK, we will also need to increase the scale of the electricity transmission network and its rate of deployment across the country.

The British Energy Security Strategy recognises this and includes actions to accelerate electricity network build.
