This is a large award for Laboratory & Precision Equipment — above three-quarters of comparable contracts. Based on 9,869 valued Laboratory & Precision Equipment tenders in our corpus.

The brief

This purchase is for an opto-electronic (lightwave) network analyser and is part of a project that aims at establishing an open experimental facility for the UK research community that will enable its users to characterise the bandwidth of their photonic components and circuits up to very high frequencies.

The new facility will enable the high speed characterisation of components and circuits that convert electrical signals into optical signals, optical signals into electrical signals as well components that have electrical inputs and outputs or optical inputs and outputs.

This allows testing of for example optical modulators, photodetectors, transmitter modules, receiver modules, etc.

The frequency range that the equipment will be capable of is such that a deeper understanding of components and circuits will be gained, allowing development of components that can serve future application requirements in optical data communications and beyond.

How to obtain Tender Documents: The Tender documents can be accessed when logged into In-Ted by selecting 'View Details' on the relevant tender advert and clicking the 'Express Interest' tab.

Once in the tender there are five tabs - 'Tender', 'ITT - documents', 'Correspondence', 'Clarifications' and 'History'.

Select the 2nd tab (ITT - Documents) where you will find useful information under 'Tender Details'.

Please download all the documents and read very carefully.

Note that the return documents Tenderers must submit with their tender response are: - File 6 - Compliance and Selection Requirements; - File 7 - Qualitative Response Requirements; - File 8 - Commercial Response Requirements; and - File 9 - Additional Response Requirements For clarification requests, please use the table provided in File 3 - Invitation to Tender Schedules and submit the document via the Correspondence function.

Opting In and Opting Out Please note you are required to 'Opt In' before you can access the full tender document set.
