Norfolk County Council is proposing to construct a new roundabout at the junction of the C497, B1527 and A140, locally known as the Hempnall Crossroads.
An improvement to the Hempnall crossroads is a condition of development in Long Stratton and is linked to the provision of a bypass.
70% of the funding for this junction improvement scheme has been provided by the Department for Transport's (DfT) National Productivity Investment Fund (NPIF), the purpose of which is to ease urban congestion, unlock economic growth, job creation opportunities, and enable the delivery of housing development.
The improvement scheme will also improve road safety at a junction with an established accident record and improve access from the side roads onto a busy A-class road with an unrestricted speed limit.
Norfolk County Council have appointed Norwich City Council Design, Conservation and Landscape team to prepare and manage the tender exercise on their behalf, and once a contractor is appointed, manage works on site.
Norfolk County Council requires a contractor to undertake soft landscape works and 3 years maintenance at the proposed Hempnall roundabout on the A140.
The main contractor is proposed to be on site in March of 2019 and it is intended that the soft landscape contractor will be appointed by this time to enable liaison between the main contractor and the landscape contractor prior to commencement of soft landscape works.
The soft landscape contractor will be required to liaise with the main contractor as required to comply with current health and safety legislation and confirm site handover arrangements.
