The brief

All dental professionals must, by law, have an indemnity arrangement or insurance policy in place.

This is so that any patient who suffers harm can recover any money they might be entitled to through compensation, in the event of a successful claim.

The PDSE (Peninsular Dental Social Enterprise) are looking for expressions of interest from companies that can provide the adequate cover of indemnity insurance.

We require a corporate indemnity solution for 170 clinical individuals and 40 corporate posts (not done by name but by role instead), that satisfies the requirement for clinical staff professional indemnity, as well as non-clinical staff.

The service provider must be able to provide expert advice, guidance and defence against claims arising from the normal practice of medicine and dentistry in the UK.

The contractual agreement is based on a 'claims made' process and provides support and guidance against claims made for clinical negligence including claimant costs, compensation costs and claims arising from Good Samaritan acts, for identified staff including vicarious liability.
