The brief

Actual CPV code is ‘75211200 Foreign Economic-Aid Related Services’.

Programme Objective Engaging men and boys is crucial for effective and sustained efforts to challenge and transform gender norms, change attitudes towards gender equality, and changing behaviours to prevent violence.

It is DFID’s assessment that the popularity of sport globally makes it a unique and interesting entry point for prevention of violence.

Sporting events and clubs offer an important way not only to reach young men and boys with particular messaging, but also a way to keep them engaged in the way that stand-alone VAWG prevention programmes and campaigns may not.

Increasing numbers of sport for development programmes that address gender equality are now aimed at men and boys.

This programme will build on the existing work of the Premier League and British Council’s Premier Skills ‘Inspired by Kicks’ programme, integrating VAWG into the programme curriculum and community outreach.

The in-depth engagement opportunities presented by this model would enable the issues around violence against women and girls to be explored in depth, and would importantly help to build the evidence base on what works to prevent violence against women and girls.
