The Authority has secured funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for the Killingworth Site Sustainable Retrofit project.
This project is a combination of refurbishment and replacement of the existing office accommodation, workshop, welfare and other facilities on the site ensuring it 'future proofs' its operations, with energy efficiency and functionality as the key principles using a range of energy efficient systems, alongside energy generation and energy storage/distribution solutions to support a move to an electronic powered operational fleet.
This procurement opportunity relates specifically to the removal of asbestos contaminated partitions and wall linings, debris and floor tile removal and environmental cleaning throughout the building, excluding riser shaft works.
North Tyneside Council will be the Principal Contractor for the project therefore tenderers should note that they will be working in the capacity of Sub-Contractor.
Tenderers must be aware that this is an operational site and as such Works must be undertaken taking into consideration neighbouring occupied buildings, vehicle movements and office and field-based employees accessing and attending the site in vehicles and on foot.
The Block A site is very restrictive for access / plant movements and therefore it is strongly recommended that Tenderers undertake a site visit, contact details to make arrangements are contained within the Preambles document in the tender pack.
Tenderers will be required to confirm that they will comply will the Authority's minimum standards in relation to health & safety and mandatory training requirements.
All operatives must hold CSCS cards, asbestos awareness training certification and any other trade/task specific relevant qualifications.
The Works are programmed to be completed between 03/04/2020 and 01/05/2020.
