CNC Horizontal Lathe
This sits in the upper-middle of the Industrial Machinery band — a substantial contract for the sector. Based on 5,734 valued Industrial Machinery tenders in our corpus.
The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for the Provision of a CNC Horizontal Lathe on behalf of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, Castings Group at Catcliffe, South Yorkshire.
Scope of Requirement This tender is for the supply, installation, commissioning and support over the product lifetime of a horizontal CNC lathe for use in machining research studies.
The lathe will be used for generating tensile test specimens in the AMRC 1 facility at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, Rotherham.
This equipment should have high precision and repeatability for production of parts with demanding tolerance requirements as well as the capability to turn a variety of materials from Aluminium to Titanium alloys.
There is a requirement to avoid any swarf loss inside the machine tool so the machine requires a swarf extraction and collection method which minimises/eliminates swarf loss into the coolant tank.
This system is to be specified and designed in collaboration with the supplier at the point of tender award.
Tender Process and Documentation: This procurement is conducted in accordance with the Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations 2011.
