Hull City Council (The Authority) has awarded a contract to supply an Appropriate Adult Service which will ensure that young people detained in police custody, will have the support to effectively understand their detention, rights and the information being communicated from the police.
The Service Provider will conduct their services with due regard to the welfare of all clients and consideration of any risk factors.
They will comply with equal opportunities considerations including matters concerning race, gender, sexuality and language.
They will ensure that every client fully understands procedures at police stations and ensure that arrangements for interpreters or others to help that person understand the procedures are present where necessary.
The tender was done as an open procedure consisting of a one stage process.
The contract shall commence 1 April 2024 ending by 31 March 2027 with an option to extend for a period of up to 2 years.
The Authority has estimated the value of the Services to be £30,000 per annum, totalling to £90,000 for the duration of the initial contract and increasing up to £150,000 if the full extension is taken.
