The brief

The BFI is looking for a supplier to help us deliver three 'turn-key' M&E asset replacement projects before the end of March 2022, designing, installing, and commissioning these systems while keeping the existing services within the operational building active.

The first two projects (boiler and chiller replacements) have the potential to help us further reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, so we are looking to contractors to provide innovative proposals, within the budget available, particularly around decarbonising and energy reduction to help to further the BFI's ambition to achieve net zero by 2025.

We believe major energy and carbon savings can be realised in the replacement of these systems, either with a like-for-like replacement with more modern and efficient equipment, or a rethinking of those systems and doing it a different way.

The final project to install the back-up generator will provide power surety to our important National Collection items which are digitally stored, again we are looking for solutions which could involve battery technology as well as traditional diesel generators.

The three projects which have committed capital funding until end of March 2022 is: 1.

Gas Boiler Replacement @ 21 Stephen St, London.

W1T 1LN 2.

Water cooled chiller replacement @ BFI National Archive, J.

Paul Getty Conservation Centre, Kingshill Way, Berkhamsted HP4 3TP 3.

Data Centre back-up generator @ BFI National Archive, Kingshill Way, Berkhamsted HP4 3TP
