At the University we undertake approximately 800 Disclosure & Barring Services checks (DBS, formerly CRB) a year.

These are for students before they start their programmes of study, such as Teacher Training, Medicine, Medical Imaging and a number of Research Programmes.

We also carry out DBS checks for current students, undertaking clinical, teaching or other placements as part of their selected module choice, where appropriate.

In addition our HR department undertake DBS checks for staff members, where there is a need for police clearance in the nature of their work.

We undertake Standard and Enhanced checks however the vast majority of the checks are enhanced.
