The Craft & Illusion of British Costume Making: A Film Series - AWARD
The Craft & Illusion of British Costume Making is a series of approximately 15 short films (each approximately three to five minutes in duration) about the history, heritage, and practice of costume making at four iconic British performance institutions: Royal Ballet and Opera, Cosprop Film Costumiers, Leeds Playhouse, and the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.
The films are intended to document, preserve, and promote the house style and specialisms of each institution (and indeed, emphasise their distinctive characteristics and cultures), and although each short film will represent a discrete and complete micro narrative, taken together, the series will reveal the richness, multiplicity, and depth of expertise within British costume making more broadly and thereby demonstrate the qualities which sustain its global reputation.
