The brief

Balfour Beatty VINCI (BBV) have been awarded HS2 Main Works Civils Contracts, lots N1 and N2.

BBV are looking to engage with the supply chain for a supplier or a number of suppliers to deliver surfacing packages across our programme.

Temporary works are likely to commence late 2020 / early 2021 with permanent works to start shortly thereafter.

Potential scenarios include: 1.

Full supply and lay 2.

Lay only 3.

Supply only Works will be required on both the Highways England and Local Authority networks.

Local Authority networks will consist of Warwickshire CC, Staffordshire CC and Birmingham City Council.

A strict testing regime will be required as part of the any package award.

Bulk planning is likely to be let as a separate package(s) of works.

Quantities The current overall quantity of surfacing is approximately 529,480 tonnes (excluding temporary works requirements), comprising the following (all in tonnes): TSC 21,582 AC32T 45,458 AC32Bin 108,620 AC32 246,705 HDM 64,246 HRA 40,102 AC20 2,767 As our design matures, quantities are likely to change.

Although the overall quantities are large, the nature of the works means that local requirements will be relatively small.

BBV therefore expects to work closely with the chosen supply chain to create efficient working patterns and maximise working windows.

Full details and specifications will be provided to the successfully shortlisted suppliers.

Suppliers should take cognisance of the scale of this project and should carefully and realistically assess their internal capabilities to be able to carry out the intended scope of works, prior to completing this expression of interest (EOI).

On selection, shortlisted supplier's will be issued with a formal pre-qualification and/or Invitation to Tender (ITT) to demonstrate their ability to work with these values and behaviours in mind, whilst proving their demonstration of capabilities and competence.
