The brief

BREEAM assessor services in support of the proposed development of 92-93 New Street, Birmingham.

BREEAM is a sustainability assessment method for buildings, through third-party certification of the assessment of an asset's environmental, social and economic sustainability performance.

The aim is to try and make the development at 92-93 New Street as sustainable as is possible.

A BREEAM assessor is required to assist in the design process and identify what is achievable with this project, the associated costs and to feed into the designs to be submitted for planning permission.

Staffordshire Pension Fund have undertaken an appraisal of the available options to refurbish the building.

Initial commercial advice during the feasibility stage pointed toward re-purposing of the building for commercial office space with retail offers at street level.

Two separate BREEAM assessments to be conducted with a BREEAM New Construction assessment undertaken on the new extension and a BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit-out assessment undertaken on the existing building refurbishment or fit-out.

Two separate certificates and ratings can be obtained to indicate the performance of both the new extension and existing building refurbishment or fit-out
