The system will be for use by staff working in in-patient units and community teams throughout the Trust.
The service covers all glucose, glucose/ketone meters with associated consumables full external and internal quality assurance package to including: quality control materials with software for result analysis, technical assistance in setting up and maintaining the system and full training programme for all the Trust staff undertaking blood glucose and/or ketone testing.
The aim of treatment in both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes treatment is to keep blood glucose levels as near to normal as possible, while minimising episodes of hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia.
