The brief

Chesterfield Borough Council (CBC) is seeking to contract an experienced architect led multi-disciplinary team to progress the technical design of the refurbishment of the Stephenson Memorial Hall, Corporation Street, Chesterfield.

The Lead designer and consultants will be required to take the existing Stage 3 package of design work for the Stephenson Memorial Hall project from RIBA Work Stage 4 to RIBA Work Stage 6.

Chesterfield Borough Council owns and manages the Stephenson Memorial Hall.

One part of the building is currently used as the Pomegranate Theatre and the other part as Chesterfield Museum.

The re-design of the building to RIBA Stage 3 combines the museum and theatre uses to enable the building to be seen as an integrated cultural venue in the town and extend the life of an important heritage asset.

The refurbishment must be complete by November 2024
